Your vote is not for a person; it is for a cause. Causes change lives, personalities fade. - Dr Harpreet Singh

I have been asked by followers and people in the comments, “What can we do?” or “What do we do next?" This is part of the answer.
This is not an endorsement of any party or politician. It is a short analysis of the power of your vote and the mindset needed to use it wisely.
As an observer, I have seen how recent conflict within Te Pāti Māori has fractured relationships and shifted focus from the cause to personalities, weakening the very foundation of the party. This reflection is my personal view, but I hold firmly to the principle that unity and the cause are above everyone. As I have said before, “separation is self-destruction; what’s needed is unification.” If any party truly represents your cause, then the cause must stand above any individual.
In every election, headlines often focus on personalities, disagreements, and internal conflicts within political parties. Right now, Te Pāti Māori is under the spotlight for internal tensions. But let’s pause and ask: should this define your vote?
The answer is simple: No.
Your vote is powerful. It is not about personalities; it is about principles. It is about the policies that shape your community’s future. When you step into that voting booth, you are not endorsing an individual’s ego or a temporary dispute; you are endorsing a vision for your people, your whānau, and generations to come.
Conflicts happen in every party. They are human. But causes are bigger than individuals. If a party stands for your community, if its policies align with your needs and aspirations, then that is what matters most. Leadership changes, personalities fade, but the cause remains.
Ask yourself what issues matter most to you. Which policies will uplift your community? Which vision aligns with the future you want for your children? Do not let noise drown out purpose. Do not let headlines distract you from the heart of the matter. Your vote is not for a person; it is for a cause. And causes are what change lives.
This election, vote with clarity. Vote with conviction. Vote for the cause that speaks to your values, not the personalities that dominate the news cycle.
Unity and the cause are above everyone, because when we let personalities divide us, we destroy the very future we fight for.

Unity and voting mindfully, choosing a future which supports Aotearoa — is on many minds right now. You might also be inspired by posts by Te Ata Tino Toa https://teatatinotoa.substack.com/
